BT Contacting UK Alarm-Based Associations and Organisations

In February 2006, an identified dial-up security alarm-based issue was highlighted at the Consult21 Implementation and Migration Working Group (IMWG). Over the next few weeks BT will be contacting alarm-based associations and organisations to address this issue.

Many companies offer a range of equipment variations using multiple protocols to supply alarm-based services to end users. In addition web based and broadband alarms systems are also available. We aim to:

  • Identify number ranges used by certain types of alarm call centres so they can be excluded from the next planned phase of 21CN trial activity which is due to start in May 2006

  • Collect together alarm-based equipment for in-depth laboratory testing.

Clearly it is in the industry’s interest to ensure 21CN works for everyone and supports all products and services.  Not all these associations or alarm-based organisations are BT customers, but to undertake rigorous investigations we need to test a wide variety of kit used today.

We will be keeping you updated on progress through Consult21.
